Garrett recon pro aml 1000 (- General)

Hello all! Any Garrett recon aml 1000 users here? I just got one and I like it. But it has an 8" mono coil on it. Kinda small and not to deep but works.if anyone can tell me will a 10"×12" DD beach/surf search coil work on this machine? I know the coils are interchangeable but will the DD work?

Hello Duane,
Yes, the Larger I infinium DD coil will work, so will the smaller DD coils.

However, You'll loose allot of sensitivity using the larger DD. The Recon was designed around the 8" mini coil that is the better coil for the Recon...My option, the Recon lacks higher sensitivity and with the constant retuning larger coils are tougher to maintain a constant threshold... I don't know if this makes sense? From my experience with the Recon with larger coils are tougher to run especially in harsh soil.

A good pi in it's day, but today a little outdated. Stick with the stock 8" mono, it's the better coil for the Recon.

HH, Paul

[image]Hi Paul. I was cleaning my Recon yesterday and noticed that the spiral wire going to the search coil from the main unit was cracked and delaminating.have you ever had that problem and if so were you able to fix it or get it fixed? Tks...
