JB Passed Away (- General)

by DH @, Friday, October 09, 2015, 19:57 (1011 days ago)

I posted many months ago about my grandfather JB's cancer diagnosis and Hospice stay. I just wanted to come back and let you all know that he passed away this past Tuesday surrounded by his family. Here is his obituary. Again, thank you all for your friendship with him over the years and for your prayers and concern since his diagnosis. He enjoyed this forum and his hobby so much.

JB Passed Away

I'm so sorry to hear this. Although I never met JB, we had a connection in a shared metal detector that I once had and he loved to use. An old A&S Treasure Baron that I had modified to be more ergonomic and added a ground balance to. I'm sure he enjoyed using it and I hope all his digs in heaven are silver and gold. RIP my friend! George

JB Passed Away

by Carl @, Saturday, October 10, 2015, 07:10 (1011 days ago) @ DH

All of us who have stopped at this forum over the years came to know JB as a friend. He was a mentor, historian, story teller and someone who saw metal detecting as way to engage people in his neighborhood near home and the rest of us all over the country and world. I was always impressed with his breadth of knowledge with detectors and his talent as a photographer. JB voluntarily helped me get this forum archived in the early days and encouraged all of us to enjoy our hobby without the bickering and negative comments so often seen on other forums. He loved his family and spoke often of them. I always found his comments instructive, funny and enjoyable. Our detecting family is diminished by his passing.

Our condolences to his family and friends as we all mourn his passing. He left a mark on me and I'm sure on many others. I hope he can scout out a great location on the other side that we can all hunt together.

Till then, goodbye my friend.

Very sorry to hear of JB's passing, JB always enjoyed helping others very well known in the hobby.

Have a couple of JB's detectors from a trade, will continue to use them in the future.

JB was there when we needed help, he will be missed by many.

God bless you and your family, Thank you for the update.
